Summer "To-Read" List

One of my favorite things about summer is that it gives me more time to read. There is something about reading a book until I can't keep my eyes open that makes summer different than the other seasons.

Usually I only read during the summer because I wasn't looking forward to reading for fun after reading for classes during the school year. But now that I am graduated, I am looking forward to reading more and more now that I can solely do it for fun.

I do have to say I have been reading a lot more thriller books in my recent reads; I blame my love of thriller and horror movies. Some of my previously read books of this genre include: Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn (aka Gone Girl author), The Girl On the Train by Paula Hawkins and The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware. Where do I get book suggestions? Instgram, Amazon and Cosmopolitan Magazine.

Anyway, the books I am hoping to get through within the next couples months include:

Sweetbitter by Stephanie Danler I saw this book in a recent video by one of my favorite YouTubers, Brooke Miccio! I am not going to lie, I am a sucker for books set in New York about women making their way through NY life, which drew me to this book. I am currently reading this book but I think I am only about 40 pages in!

Modern Lovers by Emma Straub This book was initially recommended to me on Amazon based on my recent book searches and purchases. I love that Amazon says "It’s ‘Friends’ meets ‘Almost Famous’ meets the beach read you’ll be recommending all summer" because Friends is one of my favorite shows and I just recently watched Almost Famous so this should be interesting.

Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty I watched this show when it came out and loved it! I know, you should always read the book before watching the on-screen adaptation, but I couldn't help it. I want to read this to know all the details that are not covered in the show.

The Underwriting by Michelle Miller I have had this book sitting on my shelf for a while now and I need to get around to reading it. Aside from thriller-type books, I am always down to read a more drama-filled book like this one. I consider these types of books the "chick flicks" of the book world (does that make sense? No? Okay, just me).

Into the Water by Paula Hawkins I loved The Girl on the Train, so I am interested in reading another book by Paula Hawkins. Although the Amazon reviews of this book are not too good, so I am a little hesitant to read it.

The Couple Next Door by Shari Lapena I have been wanting to read this book for a few months now. Another thriller book? Sign me up! This book also pops up as a recommended book for me based on the other books I have purchased, which makes me think I will also love this book.

What are some books you're wanting to read?
